Basketball Breakthrough

In early December, the Vail Mountain School 7th grade basketball team played in a tournament at Summit Middle School. Many VMS players couldn’t make it, so VMS fielded a team of only 6 players, including Taft. The VMS boys played 3 hard games, with only one sub, and with one game against the giant (in both numbers and size) Summit 8th grade team. Although VMS lost all three games, each VMS player played with passion and drive for every minute of every game. All of the VMS players made huge strides in their basketball abilities that day, but none made a greater leap than Taft. Basketball clicked for Taft that day. As the tallest VMS player, he became expert at rebounding, even against much taller opponents. His passing and shooting helped put a lot of points on the board for VMS. After that tournament, Taft was a force to be reckoned with on VMS’s 7th grade basketball team. Taft, the class of 2017 will never be the same without you, but your gusto for life will always inspire them to reach higher and play harder.
